Hiring Lead Teacher Position
Harmon Oaks Nursery School is in search of a Full-Time Associate Teacher & a Full-Time Lead Teacher to join our school, with permanent placement in either our preschool or transitional preschool programs.
All applicants should have a minimum of 12 child development units, while continuing their education (more information regarding requirements below). Applicants should also have knowledge of different progressive and time-tested (Montessori, Reggio, Magda Gerber, etc.) approaches.
The Lead Teacher is expected to be able to assist and or lead in the following:

Harmon Oaks is looking for the right personality and character- patience, humor, and consistency are absolute musts when working with young children. The right candidate should be fast on their feet- helping where help is needed, and doing so without direction and instead with self initiative.
Professional communication, demeanor, the ability to multi-task and follow a strict cleaning schedule, and the ability to be a resourceful team member is also a requirement.All applicants should meet one of the following requirements: (1) min. AA in Child Development (2) A minimum of three (3) months of experience as a teacher or associate teacher within a nursery school environment
Lead teachers are required to have at least an Associate's Degree or Teacher Permit, Bachelor's Degree preferred but experience may be substituted for lack of college units/degree.
Candidates may be asked to continue their education in Child Development and Education during their time of employment.Please make sure your schedule allows you to be available between the hours of 7:00am and 6pm. Should the candidates college course schedule limit their hours, email your availability- some flexibility is given to staff to allow teachers and aides to further their education.

- planning experience-full and inquiry-full curriculum
- multitasking in both setting up and engaging with children through curriculum / invitations to play and learn
- sparking conversations with children that are both meaningful and offer growth in language
- assisting children with potty time with preschoolers
- managing classroom behavior according to school's philosophy and approach
- engaging, observing, and supervising children during self-directed play
- supporting children in potty learning
- documenting development and communicating with child's family via various modes of communication, including written & verbal
- ensuring that children always feel supported, safe, loved, encouraged, and inspired
- complete routine responsibilities- setup and cleanup of stations, disinfecting classroom area, toys, etc.
