Harmon Oaks holds two family 'outings' during the school year and asks that parents make the time and effort to join us. We'd like our parents to meet the families with whom their children spend more than eights hours of their day. Aside from merely spending time together, our children have formed very close bonds and truly beautiful friendships. Let's celebrate their friendships and grow closer as a school family.
For those of you wondering what we will be doing at the picnic, the answer is quite simple- we'll be spending time together. It's a very informal event where we enjoy the weather, eat with our families, have some light snacks and refreshments, play, talk, and play some more! Our teachers will be there with their families, so it's truly meant to be a large group 'playdate'... a nursery school playdate!
As for logistics, we've included information about our annual Spring Has Sprung Picnic at the Underwood Farms below:

Parking:
Follow the signs that lead to Harmon Oaks' event area parking. We'll have parking dedicated in the Barnyard Party area (not Pony Paddock this year). No need to move your car out of the area thereafter. What to Wear: Your Harmon Oaks tee of course! Light and comfortable for both adults and children! We encourage close-toe shoes for the kids, light pants, and a spring/summer cap to protect them from the sun (that's if your child is likely to wear it for longer than 5 minutes). As for our school t-shirts, should you need one they will be available for purchase a week prior to our event. Tees are $15 and will also be available for purchase on the day of the picnic. Water: We will have some drinks at hand. We do encourage you to pack plenty of water for your family. We may experience some heat, we want to ensure our kids are plenty hydrated. |
Food & Participation:
Harmon Oaks will provide a light lunch for all to munch on. Each year our families inquire about brining treats to the picnic- during our fall gathering and all past picnics we had a very diverse and delicious desert table was completely due to the effort of our amazing parents. We'd like to continue this tradition. Please sign up the week prior, should you want to contribute and make our picnic "sweetful"! Feel free to pack any other essentials and to-go-snacks for your family :) More to look forward to: It's a Harmon Oaks tradition to release our class butterflies during the picnic. We've held onto this tradition even through a ZOOM PICNIC in 2020! We're hopeful our caterpillars will make the transformation in time, allowing us to release them at the event as we've done in the years past. A few years, with colder weather, they did not emerge as butterflies until the week after the event. We also were not able to go strawberry picking due to the rainy season affecting timely development. This year we're hoping for both happening just in time! All fingers and toes crossed for April 19th. :) |
